Who and why

About this service

A short, plain account of what this is — including the parts that are not finished yet.

The problem we are trying to fix

Panelling is unusual among home improvements: people arrive already knowing what they want. They have a saved photo, or a room they walked into once and thought about for a week afterwards. The idea is not the hard part.

The hard part is turning that picture into a number on your wall. Panelling quotes vary enormously for what looks like the same job, and the reasons are mostly invisible in a photograph — whether the wall needs battening out, whether the sockets need an electrician, whether painting is in or out. Two quotes hundreds of pounds apart are often not for the same work at all.

Meanwhile the fitter has their own version of the problem: enquiries that say "how much for panelling?" with no postcode, no photo, no idea whether it is one wall or a whole hallway, and no indication whether the customer expects it painted.

What we built

A form that takes about a minute, asks one thing at a time, works properly on a phone, and asks the questions a good fitter would ask — including what the wall is actually made of, which is the single most useful thing nobody thinks to mention.

It tells you honestly whether your postcode is covered. It sends you a copy of everything, immediately, with a reference. Then the enquiry goes to up to 3 independent joinery businesses that genuinely do that kind of work — the whole process is written out here.

Why the site tells you things that lose us enquiries

You will notice several places where this site talks you out of something. Slat panels do not soundproof a room. Standard MDF fails in a bathroom. Panelling over damp makes it worse. A television cannot hang on the panels themselves.

Some of those will cost us an enquiry, and that is fine. A customer who buys slat panelling expecting it to block their neighbour's television is going to be furious with the fitter, the fitter is going to be furious with us, and nobody involved comes out ahead. Saying it up front is cheaper for everyone.

Where we are honest about being new

This service launched recently. There is no gallery of finished walls on this site because we have not finished a hundred walls. There are no reviews because we have not earned any. There is no "average response time" badge because we have not measured one.

In a visual trade that is a real disadvantage — a panelling website without photographs is fighting with one hand tied. It is still better than the alternative, which is a gallery of stock images that anyone can reverse image search in four seconds.

All of those things will appear as they become true, with dates and sources attached. Until then the empty spaces stay empty.

Who operates this

Full operator details — legal name, company number and registered office — are published in the footer of every page and in our Terms of Use.

We are an enquiry service, not a joinery contractor. We do not carry out work, we do not subcontract work, and we do not take contractual responsibility for work carried out by the independent businesses an enquiry is matched with. Your contract for any work is with them.

The one thing we hold ourselves to

Every valid enquiry gets an immediate acknowledgement and a clearly owned next action. Not a promise about how fast a fitter will ring — we do not control that — but a guarantee that your enquiry is not sitting in a mailbox nobody reads.

If that ever stops being true, tell us. It is the whole point of the thing.

Getting in touch

The fastest route for a job is the enquiry form. For anything else, contact details are here.
