Useful before you ask anyone for a price
Costs & advice
Written to be genuinely useful, and to avoid the two things that make cost content worthless: made-up prices and vague reassurance.
A note on prices
There is no price table on this site. Not because we are being coy, but because we do not yet have enough genuine local job data to publish one, and copying a national marketplace's figures and presenting them as Shropshire evidence would be dishonest.
When ranges do appear here they will carry the date they were checked, the assumptions behind them, whether VAT is included and where the numbers came from. Until then the guides below explain what moves a price, which is more useful than a figure you cannot rely on.
The guides
- What actually drives a panelling quote in Shropshire Panel count rather than wall area, wall condition, painting, electrics — and an honest explanation of why there is no "from £X" figure here.
- MDF or solid wood panelling? Why MDF is the right answer for almost all painted panelling, and the three situations where it genuinely is not.
- Panelling on uneven or bowed walls How battening out works, a test you can do with your own eye, and which styles cope best with a wall that will never be flat.
- Do slat panels actually soundproof a room? Absorption versus insulation, what slat panels genuinely do, and what to buy instead if the problem is your neighbours.
- Panelling around sockets, switches and radiators Why sockets need an electrician, what Part P means for you, and the decisions to make before anyone starts cutting.
